I had a beautiful moment where I got to chat with Thandile Skeyi. Thandile Skeyi is a loved and inspiring news anchor in one of the biggest radio station in the country, she was born here in the Eastern Cape in Cofimvaba. Few days after she was born her arm was amputated, with challenges regarding her health she had to move to joburg and lived her life in a hospital till she was 4yrs old. Attending school made her realize that she was different from other kids, as time went by Thandile saw a need to accept herself because in her university years she was still hiding her disability so few people knew about it. An opportunity came her way when she was still in Wits for a documentary then thats where she came out and for the first time in television people saw her wearing a short sleeved top and that was a big step for her. She says that’s when doors started to open for her, she has done a lot till this far. She knows what she wants and she knows nothing and nobody can stand in her way. She did kids news on SABC 1, she was once a judge in Miss SA Teen, news anchor radio 2000 and now Umhlobo wenene FM. Thandile says one thing she doesn’t leave behind is her confidence because without it she wont be able to do things. She is married, a news anchor, pastor and wants to teach upcoming news anchors. With all she has done she is confident and she says you must have your source in life, she continued to say use your GOD given tools and stand before the people you fear the most and speak your heart. With Thandile I have learned that determination and accepting yourself is the best thing you can do for yourself, people may look at you differently and have boundaries it is all up to you to make things work for yourself. Work hard and achieve more in life.
